The Galerie Noel Guyomarc’h Bijoux D’Art et Objet Contemporain welcomed artists, patrons and new clients to the launch of its new space on April 13, 2012. The event was the official opening of the new Saint-Laurent location. It showcased the most current creations by over 70 jewellery artists from Quebec and the rest of Canada, the United States as well as international artists. The gallery, featuring work comprised primarily of contemporary jewellery and objects, is unique to the city in its collection of non-traditional jewellery and is a strong leader in presenting high quality hand-crafted pieces.
The larger space lends itself well to the jewellery made of alternative materials, with myriad of colours presented in traditional and sculptural forms. The layout of the space is open concept and airy. The presentation is minimal, as to not lead the eye away from the intricacy of each piece. New to the space are ceramics, a larger collection of contemporary jewellery and craft books, and sculptural objects. Currently the gallery showcases the ceramic sculpture of local artist, France Goneau.
The size and new location of the gallery has been a great improvement in its potential to reach a greater audience. Those who are interested in learning more about contemporary jewellery, looking for something unique, or just wish to browse, can visit throughout the week. The collection at Galerie Noel Guyomarc’h Bijoux D’Art et Objet Contemporain is spectacular and offers visitors something new and different from other galleries within Montreal.
